Friday Photo Share For October 14, 2011

Wow, it’s already mid October. Time sure flies! I’ve been very busy this week with everything except photography. I still wanted to share an interesting photo with you. I guess the theme of this week’s photo share is “keeping your eyes open” Here is an image I took during the Atlanta photowalk a couple of weeks ago:

Interesting Window Shadows

We were walking down a street on our way to the Barnes & Noble building when we passed this older building on our right side. Out of the 20 or so people in our group I think I was the only person who saw this. The thing that caught my attention was the alignment of the railing shadow through the frame of the window. If you look closely there’s almost a perfect crossing of the shadow with the window frame, all the way through the window. I don’t know what the odds are of this happening again but I figured I’d better get the image while I could :-)

I guess the moral of the story is that you always need to be looking around when you’re out with your camera because you could just come across something at least a little unique.

Happy shooting!

Decatur Georgia Building Mural

This past Saturday Pam and I headed down to Decatur, Georgia to meet some friends for dinner and hang out for a concert and fireworks. Being the photography geek I am, I brought my camera hoping to get a couple of good shots.

Decatur has done a good job of revitlizing itself over the last 10-15 years. It’s now home to a number of good restaurants, art galleries and my favorite beer bar, the Brickstore Pub. This past Saturday was a beautiful Fall day and as we were walking across the plaza the sun was hitting this mural just about perfectly. The colors were really “popping” on it. It’s a long mural (about 30 feet) so I had no chance of getting it all in facing it directly so I stepped off to the left side and tried to frame/compose the picture as best I could.

After I took this picture we wandered around the corner of this building into the Brickstore, where they were celebrating Oktoberfest (I hate when that happens :-) ), had a couple of great beers and ate some tasty food. We capped of the evening with a concert on the plaza and some fireworks. All in all a nice way to spend a Saturday!
