If you are looking to buy some pine cones, I have them by the bucket-full:

Day 94-Anybody Want To Buy A Pine Cone

Our yard is full of pine trees, Loblolly Pine (Pinus taeda if you speak Latin)  to be exact. All these trees generate a tone of pine cones. I spend a fair amount of time picking them up out of our yard. So, if you need a few thousand pine cones for some reason, let me know. I’ll make you a great deal on them :-)

By the way, this is one of the 1st images I captured with my new to me Canon EF-S 15-85 f/3.5-5.6 lens. I haven’t had too much time to use it yet but so far I’m impressed. I’ll be doing a lot more shooting with it in the next couple of weeks and then I should be able to do a proper review of it. Stay tuned…

Yes, I’m still alive, just extremely busy. Between work, life and spending time demoing the new Adobe Lightroom 4 (which I’ll post more about here very soon), I’ve been lax in posting to this blog. Well, time to catchup a bit. Here are the last 10 days or so of my project 365 images from newest to oldest. I should be back on track with more regular posting here very soon.

I’ve taken up poetry as of today:

Day 63-See The Tree at 3:33 on 3/3

Today is the 3rd of March. A local entertainment publication, Creative Loafing, came up with the idea of having everyone take a photograph at 3:33 on 3/3. I thought this was pretty cool since it’s day 63 for me in my project 365. I decided to keep the rhyming theme by taking a photograph of a tree in our neighborhood that is starting to bloom.

Pretty creative, huh :-)

Ok, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

The Hyacinth’s are blooming:

Pink Hyacinth

This is one of the many Hyacinth plants that are in our front yard. Each year a few more pop up. I think they spread via root bulbs (or something like that). They are a nice addition to all of the pine straw we have and help to brighten things up a bit.

On a separate note, I’m 60 days into my project 365 and so far I’ve managed to post a different photograph each day. I feel pretty good about my chances of completing this so stay tuned and we’ll see if I can keep this thing going!

Happy Leap Day!

For day 48 of my project 365 I  thought I’d have a little fun with the photographs title. The answer to the title is the subject of the photograph:

What Dogs Do

The answer is pretty easy, It’s bark on a tree (I think an Oak). The thing that is interesting about this photo is the tiny amount of green moss that’s on the bark(near the center). I barely saw it at 1st but now that I noticed it I can’t NOT see it :-)

I decided to play around a bit with my editing software:

Low Key Tree

I took a basic picture of a tree against the gray sky and played around with it in Paintshop Pro. I first converted it to B&W  and then opened up the Topaz Adjust plugin and applied the ”Lowkey II” preset to get this final image. The final result looks a little foreboding and dark. I think it looks pretty good but it could probably be tweaked some more. I’m looking forward to learning more about all of the image editing features that are available to me.
