Welcome to my little piece of the internet photography world!
My name is Mark Sinderson and I’m a newly minted enthusiastic amateur photographer. I’m also a nearly middle-aged (OK, fully middle aged) guy who lives in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I’m married and in addition to photography I enjoy keeping healthy and fit by road cycling and running. I also love Craft Beer and good food, especially if it’s cooked on my prized Big Green Egg.
Why Does This Blog Exist?
MarksPhotographySpot.com exists as a way for me to share my passion for photography. I have been involved with photography pretty much my entire life, but only in a minor way. I was happy to have a camera to record various memories, trips and other stuff that caught my eye. In 1994 I spent some money and bought a Canon EOS Rebel XS 35mm film SLR. I had a lot of fun with that camera and took some great pictures. In 2001 I hopped on the digital camera bandwagon and bought an Olympus D-960 and then quickly replaced it with another Olympus, the C-3000, a 3.1 megapixel camera. I used that for almost 6 years then purchased a Canon PowerShot S3 IS in 2006. I upgraded to the PowerShot SX30 IS in 2010.
Late last year (2010) I seemed to have released some hidden creativity when I wrote and published my 1st (and maybe only) book, Beyond The Twelve-Ounce Curl, which covers the subject of health and fitness with a craft beer twist. Once that project was done I realized that I was able to actually visualize and document the creative ideas in my head. That experience lead me very quickly back to the camera and I decided to explore and expand my photographic skills. I purchased a Canon T3i DSLR a couple of months ago, joined a local photography club and began taking a lot of images. I quickly learned that I really enjoyed photography more than ever before and I wanted to provide a way for me to discuss my experiences and share whatever information I could with other photographers. This site is the result.
My goal is to make MarksPhotographySpot a place where other photographers, be they brand new or experienced, can come to learn about photography, share ideas and become better photographers. You will probably see this blog evolve over time. I have lots of ideas on how it could develop but I’m going to start small and build from there. And that’s where you come in… I am looking for your feedback and suggestions to help make this site one that you will want to visit on a regular basis. Please drop me an email at mark@marksphotographyspot.com with any ideas you may have.
Happy shooting!
